How the estimate is calculated

  1. Hourly rate is annual salary divided by 2,080 paid hours (52 weeks of 40 hours).
  2. Each problem area you pick adds a share of working time the agents can take on. The shares add up.
  3. That total is scaled by an industry multiplier.
  4. It is scaled again by how much room there is: at 70% current efficiency the total grows by 30%; at 95% it grows by 5%.
  5. The result is capped at 50% of working hours.
  6. Hours saved per week times team size times hourly rate gives weekly savings; we use 4.33 weeks per month and 52 per year.
  7. Telara’s cost is the published Team tier: $0 a month plus $29 per person. ROI is net annual savings divided by that cost; payback is cost divided by monthly savings.

Worked example

The calculator’s starting values: 10 people earning $120,000, working 40 hours a week at 70% efficiency in technology, with Code Review and Bug Fixing selected.

  • Problem areas add up to 35%, times 1.2 for the industry, times 1.30 for efficiency, is 54.6%, capped at 50%: 50% of time.
  • That is 20 hours a week per person, worth $600,000 a year across the team.
  • Telara on the Team tier costs $3,480 a year, leaving $596,520 net and paying back in 0.1 months.
